For larger swags that are folded over in the package: Unfold swag, keeping hands close together while bending main stem (see figure 1). If your hands are too far apart, the floral tape on the stems will tend to tear.

Opening Swags:

When opening and positioning the flowers, bend the stems close to the flower heads, keeping most of the stem parallel to the main stem (Figure 2). This will make the swag fuller and help it hang on the wall without rolling or facing downward.

Turn swag over and spread the large leaves and branches in the back first. Working from the back of the swag is easiest, and positioning the leaves first will create a background of leaves to nest the flowers in, making the swag appear fuller.

Turn the swag back over and spread and open the small leaves and small flowers first. Open the larger flowers last. Start small and work to the center.

After all flowers are opened, you can achieve the swag affect (optional) by slightly curving the main stem. Bend the stem from the back of the swag, keeping your hands close together, working from one end to the other, bending a little at a time (Figure 3).
